Hello world!
As is customary with all new things that are programming related, here is the "Hello World" of this blog.
What to expect from this blog ?
Allow me to summarize the information that will pique your interest as a reader of this blog.
Who am I
I am a Systems Software Engineer and Site Reliability Engineer with a passion for all things computer/software-related. My journey into the field of computing began with my foray into System Administration for a Minecraft server I created to play with my friends.
Initially, the Minecraft server was hosted on my personal computer, and users connected to it using either the local IP address or an IPv6 address through a software program called LogMeIn Hamachi. Sweet memories :) However, this method had its limitations, especially since the server was dependent on my computer being on at all times, and it was incredibly memory-hungry. A few months before, I had experimented with Debian (either Squeeze or Wheezy). Therefore, I decided to install Minecraft on another computer running Linux, transforming it into a real server™.
Fast forward nine years later, and I am now a Computer Systems Engineering/Site Reliability Engineering professional.
Topics you can expect
As a Computer Systems Engineer, expect blog posts on the following topics that I have worked on previously:
- System Administration
- TPM / Secure Boot / Disk encryption
- Virtualization stuff
- HA architectures, failure domains and disaster recovery
- Secure architectures, defense in depth, threat modeling
- Containers, cgroups, namespaces
- Kubernetes
- C programming
- Nix(OS), nixpkgs
- Arch Linux
In addition to these, I will explore other topics to satisfy my curiosity. :)
As Richard P. Feynman said once “What I cannot create, I do not understand.”
What will I expect from you ?
- Please tell me if I'm wrong! I will eventually publish information that is inaccurate or plainly wrong. One goal of this blog is for me to share things I know. So if it appears I have misconceptions about a subject, I'd love to hear your feedback on this. This way, I can learn and share with others who may also have the same misconceptions I did.
- To (hopefully) enjoy reading this blog. :D
